Gli Alter Bridge sono un gruppo hard rock americano con sonorità anni '70 di classic rock.

Era il 2004 quando gli ex Creed Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall e Scott Phillips, orfani di Scott Stapp, decidono di dar vita ad un nuovo progetto, spinti da nuova linfa vitale e dalla voglia di allontanarsi dalle leggi di mercato. Mancava un frontman di un certo valore, in grado di interpretare le idee di Tremonti e il suo intento di riscoprire sonorità rock più classiche, allontanandosi dal solito post grunge. Detto fatto, i tre individuano un talento più unico che raro in grado di completare la formazione. Si stratta di Myles Kennedy, ex singer dei Mayfield Four, un tenore versatile e carismatico in grado di cantare addirittura su tre ottave. Nascono così gli Alter Bridge. L'esordio avviene con l'eccellente One Day Remains e, a tre anni di distanza, i nostri si ripresentano sulle scene con Blackbird, nuovo lavoro prodotto a loro spese dopo aver lasciato la Wind-Up e aver firmato con la Universal Records. Si dice che il secondo album sia sempre più difficile, ma questa regola non sembra valere per gli Alter Bridge che propongono un album addirittura migliore del precedente, più maturo e valido tecnicamente. Un disco hard rock, potente, grintoso, dagli ottimi arrangiamenti, a tratti commovente. L'aggressività compositiva di Tremonti diventa un tutt' uno con la vena artistica dark emozionale di Kennedy che, rispetto al lavoro precedente, ha partecipato alla stesura dei testi dell'album. Ogni singola traccia scorre via splendidamente, incastonandosi in un lavoro perfetto che non cade mai di tono, privo di sbavature, sontuoso, dalle sonorità metal, in cui però non si rinuncia a quelle melodie emozionanti che avevano reso grandi i Creed.

Ultimamente tra le mie preferite c'è I live my death degli 8 foot sativa...
